Drama student fined for reading porn story to children

STOCKHOLM, Dec 14 (AFP) - A 32-year-old drama student was on Wednesday convicted in Sweden of sexual abuse and fined for reading pornographic stories to a group of kindergarten children as part of a study project, a Stockholm court said.
The student, whose name was not disclosed, was fined 2,400 kronor (300 dollars, 250 euros) for reading two stories to a group of 15 six-year-olds. The children were filmed during the readings to study their facial expressions.
The two stories concerned homosexual sex acts between eight year old boys and girls.
The reading, held last January, was part of a project by the Stockholm drama school Dramatiska Institutet to study children and their sexual awareness and understanding about love and their own bodies.
The stories were written by the student on behalf of his drama group.
The man denied any wrongdoing and pleaded innocent. He argued that his drama group trusted their teachers who had assigned the project and who had encouraged them to speak openly with the children about sex.
The teachers had however not seen the text before it was read to the children.
The Stockholm district court found that the text was "hard-core pornography", and said the video footage showed that some of the children had reacted strongly and negatively to the reading.
It added that "reading pornography to children should, in line with current mores in society, be considered unsuitable and indecent."

Two-thirds of Swedes secretly read partner's SMS messages: study

STOCKHOLM, Sept 21 (AFP) - Two-thirds of Swedes secretly read their partner's mobile phone text messages, in particular when he or she nips off to the loo, a study published on Wednesday showed.
Sixty-four percent of those questioned by mobile portal Halebop for Swedish operator TeliaSonera said they read their partners' SMS messages purely out of curiosity, but one-fourth admitted that they did it out of jealousy.
Most people, 47 percent, said they secretly peeked into their partner's phone when he or she was in the bathroom or shower, while others said they did it when their partner was sleeping or had forgotten to take their mobile.
Sixty-three percent said they were particularly interested in reading their partner's phones messages after he or she had been to a bar or restaurant, while only four percent said they looked after their partner returned from a work conference.
The study also showed that 86 percent of people had flirted with someone by SMS, and 40 percent had had SMS sex. Seven percent said they had had SMS sex with an unknown person.
The study questioned 685 people in Sweden from August 25 through September 5.

Buckle up: Swedish teens design anti-rape belt

STOCKHOLM, Nov 22 (AFP) - A group of Swedish teenage girls has designed a belt that requires two hands to remove and which they hope will deter would-be rapists, one of the creators told AFP on Tuesday.
"It's like a reverse chastity belt," one of the creators, 19-year-old Nadja Bjoerk, told AFP, meaning that the wearer is in control, instead of being controled.
The military-style buckle has a latch that the wearer has to move through a labyrinth into the correct position in order to unlock the belt.
"You need two hands to open it, so the rapist can't hold you down and open it at the same time. It takes a while to figure it out if you don't know what you're doing," she said.
The product was designed as part of a high school project in entrepreneurialism and the girls have already sold 300 of the belts in Sweden, priced at 150 kronor (18 dollars, 16 euros).
Bjoerk and one of her partners now plan to start a business to mass produce the belts and are currently in negotiations with potential partners.
"But I'm not doing this for the money," she said. "I'm really passionate about stopping rape. I think it's terrible."
The Swedish media have in recent months given wide and descriptive coverage to rape attacks, though experts' opinions vary on whether there has been an actual rise in the number of such crimes.

Ah, as suecas, que saudade!

A primeira, acho mal. Prémio Abba.

A segunda, acho bem (alguém me explica o qué "SMS sex"?). Prémio Roxette.

A terceira, acho assim assim. Prémio Final Countdown. Repare-se que são "teenage girls" a fazer o produto e uma chama-se Bjoerk. Parece-me tudo muito plagiado, até porque já se inventou o mesmo na África do Sul há uns tempos.
